IRNA – Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that when oil becomes the pivot of everything, the economy is insecure.

'Any kind of progress is based on security, that's why we say that security is important,' The Supreme Leader said in cadets' graduation ceremony.

'Today one of the main issues in our country is economy and people's livelihood,' he said, adding that 'economy requires security, and it should be based upon a safe basis'.

'Our historical problem is the dependence of our economy on the oil; this has caused us economic security concerns throughout the ages,' Iran's Supreme Leader said.

'The oil price declines…, it rises…, the customer hasn't paid the price…; when everything revolves around the oil, the economy becomes insecure; the economy should become secure,' he said in the Joint graduation, inauguration and epaulet granting ceremony for cadets of Islamic Republic of Iran's army Academies at Imam Ali Officers' Academy.
