Iran not to halt relief aid to Myanmar Muslims

IRNA – Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said on Saturday that the entity’s humanitarian relief consignments to the Muslims in Myanmar will not be suspended.


Talking on the sidelines of the International Poster Exhibition titled ‘Religious Genocide in Myanmar’, Ali Asqar Peyvandi said that IRCS is working to promote peace and friendship among all nations, noting that art is instrumental for spreading peace and friendship.

Such activities are undertaken by IRCS voluntarily and the exhibition is a manifestation of humanitarian activities of the entity, he said.

On his visit to Myanmarese refugee camps in Bangladesh, Peyvandi said that a bleak atmosphere is dominant in the camps and IRCS distributed 100 tons of humanitarian aid among the refugees to relieve their sufferings.

Setting up field hospital as well as treatment camps and other activities the entity is currently able to do are underway but the scale of the catastrophe is widening day by day, requiring global efforts, he said.

International Poster Exhibition ‘Religious Genocide in Myanmar’ features artworks by the Iranian and 18 other countries’ artists.

The event is aimed at conveying message of peace and portraying dimensions of the human catastrophe in Myanmar.
