21 Oct 2017 - 10:38

IRNA – US President Donald Trump Otober 13 speech was not suitable for a president, Head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharrazi said.

'The US has always been hostile towards Iran and unfortunately it has breached its commitment to Iran nuclear deal,' said Kharrazi.

'US has never been able to make any obstacle on our way and we continue our cooperation,' Kharrazi told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Friday.

'Iran has a great military power and is also influential in the region,' he said.

'We have always tried to establish stability in the region and this is exactly opposite to what Trump claims as Iran's destabilizing role in the region,' he noted.

'We have been invited by Syria and Iraq to support their legal governments against terrorism,' he added.

US President Donald Trump on October 13 took a new strategy toward Iran and decertified Tehran's commitment to the 2015 landmark nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Trump's approach has been criticized by many countries, international bodies, political communities and world media.

'Iran nuclear deal is not a bilateral accord and it belongs to no country and no country is able to terminate it,' High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said minutes after Trump's speech on Friday.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a televised message shortly after Trump's speech said his remarks were 'nothing but a handful of baseless and empty allegations against the Iranian nation.'
