Press TV - Iranian freestyle wrestler Younes Emami has adeptly employed a mix of primal hand-to-hand combat and complex tactics at the Dmitry Korkin 2017, and picked up the gold medal.

Emami downed a contestant from Japan 9-3 in his opening round contest of men’s 65-kilogram weight category at the Sports Training Center in the Russian city of Yakutsk on Saturday, before prevailing over a representative from Mongolia 6-4 in the second bout.

He then defeated his Uzbek opponent 11-8 in the next challenge to march into the semifinal round.

Emami overcame his Russian rival 6-5 in the semifinal, and qualified for the final encounter.

The Iranian freestyle wrestler outmuscled a competitor from Russia 5-1 in the final, and collected the gold medal.

The international tournament has reportedly brought together dozens of athletes from 19 countries, including Bulgaria, Finland, Georgia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Romania, South Korea and Turkey.
