Signatories to JCPOA urged to extend further support to JCPOA

28 Sep 2017 - 15:33

IRNA – Paliament Vice Speaker Ali Motahari said on Wednesday that European Union, especially signatories to 2015 nuclear deal such as France should show their independence and support the deal more in defiance of the US.

Motahari made the remarks following US President Donald Trump's recent anti-Iran speech in the UN General Assembly meeting.

“We traveled to three countries of Portugal, France and Poland, holding talks with almost 15 high-ranking officials of the countries, with president of French National Assembly and president of Polish Senate as well as culture ministers of the states as most significant of the meetings,” he said.

“We discussed presence of MKO in France with president of French National Assembly and provided information about the group’s line of thinking and function, protesting their presence in the country,” he said.

“We also debated the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with a focus on Donald Trump’s anti-Iran policies, stressing the need for the signatories to the JCPOA to prove their independence and give further backing to it by defying the US,” Motahari said.

Middle Eastern developments were another issue discussed with the French senior official, he said, noting that Iran’s role in improving Syrian situation and repressing Daesh was highlighted during the meeting.
