Presidential hopeful: Any direct talks with US must be regulated by Iran’s security body

6 May 2013 - 16:43

An Iranian presidential hopeful said any possible direct talks with the US must be regulated by Iran's top security body.
Reformist campaigner Mohammad-Reza Aref said there is no restriction for holding talks with other countries, including the US, Fars news agency reported.

However, he noted that such negotiations must be conducted within the framework set by the Supreme National Security Council.

The former first vice-president further stressed that Tehran will enter bilateral talks with Washington when the US is papered for an unconditional dialog.

In September, the Iranian Interior Ministry announced that the country will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
