Spain’s “SERNAUTO” ready to cooperate with largest Iranian automaker

FNA- Spanish Auto Parts Manufacturer Association “SERNAUTO” expressed its readiness to cooperate and interact with the largest Iranian Automaker “IKCO”.

Iranian automakers and part manufacturers of IKCO supplier, SAPCO, in a joint meeting with a high-ranking delegation of Spanish Parts Manufacturers Association, traveling to the Islamic Republic of Iran on behalf of top 1,000 part manufacturers, exchanged their views for broadening mutual cooperation and interaction in relevant field.

Spanish Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran Edwardo Lopez Busquets in this expert-level meeting pointed to the 56% growth of Iran’s export of products to Spain in the current Iranian calendar year in 2016 (started March 21, 2017) as compared to 2015 and evaluated a bright and rosy future for trade and business ties between the two countries.

While expressing his satisfaction on the meeting held between the two sides, he said: “As representative of more than 1,000 manufacturers and suppliers of auto parts for Spain’s top 17 automakers, SERNAUTO is ready to cooperate with the largest Iranian automaker, Iran Khodro Company.”

Spain’s auto parts manufacturing industry exported €17.5 billion worth of high-quality parts in 2016, showing a considerable 2.7 percent growth in the same year, he said, adding: “Officials in the Spanish government have rolled up their sleeves in the field of supporting expansion and development of business in this industry in cooperation with foreign partners.”

In the meantime, IKCO’s International Cooperation Manager Mohammad Hosseinnejad Salimi expounded a comprehensive report on the situation of IKCO in international markets and opportunities facing Iranian automotive industry in post-sanctions era and said: “Manufacturing 1.8 million high-quality cars by 2025 is the main goal of Iran Khodro Company. To achieve this goal, IKCO has devoted and earmarked its strategic programs in the final phase to the design and development of new platforms, diversity in product portfolio and cooperation with foreign companies as joint venture (JV) in various fields.”

With regard to the cooperation opportunities in country’s parts manufacturing industry, Hossein Nazari Strategic Planning and Studies Director of SAPCO (IKCO Supplying Automotive Parts Company) focused on the electrical and electronic systems, power transmission, control and steering, safety, interior and exterior trims of car and said: “It is hoped that new form of cooperation will be made possible in the very near future between SAPCO and leading Spanish auto parts manufacturing companies.”
