20 Jun 2017 - 15:12

IRNA – Deputy Head of the International Affairs Office at the Education Ministry said Afghan students can attend school in Iran as before.

Ali Hosseini said that the Islamic Republic’s policy is to support Afghan nationals and to provide them with good-quality education.

Hosseini added there are two groups of Afghan students in Iran: those who have a passport and their residency documents are complete, and those who lack the documents but have education-purpose-only cards issued by the Ministry of Interior.

He said that the latter can register in Iranian schools from June 1, and the former need to renew their cards from June 22.

According to Hosseini, there are some 400,000 Afghan nationals in Iran who attend school in about 25,500 schools in Iran.
