9 Jun 2017 - 18:34

IRNA – The funeral ceremony for the victims who were martyred in Wednesday’s twin terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital has been held in the Iranian Parliament (Majlis).

Present at the ceremony on Friday morning were heads of three branches of power, President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani.

Iranian government and military officials also were among the participants of the mourning ceremony.

The Parliament Speaker addressed the ceremony and condemned the attacks.
Terrorists tried to undermine the democratic and religious foundations of the nation, but they failed to do so, Larijani said.

Two terrorist groups attacked mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini and the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on Wednesday (June 7) morning, killing 17 people and injuring 52 more.

One of the attackers blew up himself outside Imam Khomeini shrine.

The terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the fatal attacks in Tehran.
