24 Apr 2017 - 12:50

IRNA-- Deployment of Iran’s flotilla in the open seas is a source of pride for the Islamic establishment and serves as manifestation of the country’s authority in the international waters, says the Navy Commander.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari in ceremony attended by Navy staff and commanders on Sunday said that in recent months, three squadrons of Iranian flotilla have been dispatched to Oman, India, Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

They served to be Iran’s ambassadors of peace and friendship, Admiral Sayyari said.

Pointing to the enemy’s plot in the early years after the Islamic Revolution aimed at dismantling the Army, he added that they wanted, through demolishing the country’s defensive power and tarnishing the Army’s status, to undermine the Islamic Revolution and prevent its dissemination abroad.

Describing the army as a shield and a powerful defending arm for the Revolution, Sayyari added that the enemy’s main tools to achieve its ends were the anti revolution elements of and the Mojahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group.

Sayyari described advancements made by the Armed Forces as satisfactory and added that their abilities in modernizing navy fleet, manufacturing various types of destroyers and warships with rocket launchers are not comparable to the past.

The Navy Commander urged indentifying the enemy and threats, as well as modernizing military hardware.

Such steps are important factors in defending the Islamic Revolution, Sayyari said.
