Scores of Iranian Army Aviation helicopters fly over the parade ground

18 Apr 2017 - 12:43

IRNA – Scores of Islamic Republic of Iran Army Aviation (IRIAA) helicopters flew over the parade ground near the late Imam Khomeini’s Mausoleum in southern Tehran.

The grand air parade of IRIAA was staged Tuesday to display the force’s power to oppose any possible threats and to defend the Islamic Republic of Iran’s territorial integrity.

Many transport, attack, and reconnaissance helicopters participated in National Army Day parade. Also paratroopers, holding the Iranian flag, conducted sky jumps in an air show to display their military abilities over the Mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini.

On April 18, 1988, the US Navy in the Persian Gulf threatened Nasr and Salmaan oil platforms to make their staff abandon the installations; however, the Iranian Army staff present there refused to do so, and were proudly martyred by the invading US Navy.

Every year Iran commemorates the National Army Day on April 18 or 17, throughout the country with the presence of military and government high-ranking officials.
