17 Apr 2017 - 9:39

IRNA – Brazilian Ambassador to Iran Rodrigo de Azeredo Santos said that Brazil as a commercial partner stood alongside Iran and continued its exports to the country in times of sanctions.

In a meeting with the Head of Iran-Brazil Parliamentary Friendship Group Abdelreza Azizi on Sunday, he said that Brazil’s commercial ties with Iran have never declined.

Brazilian envoy also expressed pleasure over increase of economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.

Describing Iran as an influential and major state in the region, he hoped that problems surrounding the two countries’ private sectors will soon be solved.

“Economic cooperation and joint investment, especially in Iran’s agriculture and trade sectors are important to us and we are keen on promoting cooperation in the economic and agricultural spheres,” he said.

Azizi, for his part, evaluated Iran-Brazil economic and commercial interactions as positive, saying that the two countries boast suitable potential in the fields of economy and trade, which should be used in line with enhancing cooperation and the two nations’ interests.

The Iranian lawmaker underlined the need for development of the economic and trade relations, parliamentary ties in particular, saying, “We believe that mutual economic and trade ties should continue as there are appropriate grounds for further exchanges.”

Brazil is among the countries which did not abandon its trade and commercial exchanges with Iran even in the era of sanctions and it will keep up commercial interaction with Iran based on its internal policies, Azizi said.
