IRNA – Secretary of Iran’s Elections Headquarters Ali Pourali Motlaq said on Thursday that 638 persons have registered so far (the third day of registration) for candidacy in the country’s upcoming presidential elections.

357 nominees registered on Thursday so that the total number of candidates reached 638 on the third day of registration, he said.

The official said that 21 women were among the nominees who registered on Thursday.

The youngest person who has registered yet is 18 years old with the oldest one being 88, according to the official.

The final list of the candidates eligible to run for Iran’s 12th round of presidential election is expected to be announced by the Interior Ministry on April 26–27.

Election campaign will officially begin on April 28 and end on May 17. The Election Day is on May 19.
