IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif urged “all” to join President Hassan Rouhani’s proposal for the World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE).


“Let’s celebrate spring’s renewal by renewing hope for children in Syria and Yemen. Let’s all join the WAVE: World Against Violence and Extremism, “Zarif said on his twitter on Wednesday evening pointing to the beginning of the New Iranian Year, Norouz, which also marks beginning of spring.

In December 2013, the General Assembly overwhelmingly voted to approve President Rouhani’s WAVE proposal, which called on all nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.

The Iranian president had made the proposal in his address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25, 2013.
