20 Mar 2017 - 13:44

March 20, The Iran Project – The staff and management of the The Iran Project wish all Iranians and other nations that celebrate Nowruz worldwide a very Happy New Year.

In line with rebirth of nature, the Iranian Celebrate new year, Nowruz , which means new day. It always begins on the first day of spring. Nowruz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts the End and the Rebirth; or Good and Evil. A few weeks before the new year, Iranians clean and rearrange their homes. They make new clothes, bake sweets and cookies.

Along with Iranians, millions of others in countries such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan and Turkey also celebrate Nowruz.

Nowruz is celebrated  on the day of the spring Equinox, which marks the sun’s crossing of the Equator and the start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

It has its origins in ancient Iran and Zoroastrianism, the ancient pre-Islamic religion but Iranians gave it an Islamic color after they converted to Islam.

In 2010, the United Nations recognized March 21st as the International Day of Nowruz, or the Persian New Year.

May God bless everyone in this New Year with happiness, success, prosperity, peace snd love.
