Foreign Ministry, parliament to establish joint economic committee

15 Mar 2017 - 10:15

IRNA - Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday that his ministry and the parliament (Majlis) have agreed to establish a joint committee to pursue execution of the 6th Five-Year Development Plan (2016-2021) and also Resistance Economy outlined by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

He called the meeting between Foreign Ministry officials and the members of parliament’s economic commission 'encouraging'.

During the meeting, the Foreign Ministry deputies briefed the lawmakers about the ministry’s measures for facilitation of Iran’s economic relations with foreign states.

Elaborating on the effects of undiplomatic letters on the country’s status at the international scene, he urged the incumbent and former officials to avoid such actions.

Disrespecting diplomatic protocols will not have good reflection in the world and will show that Iran’s foreign relations are very much affected by domestic politics rather than the country’s national security policies.
