Russia’s Rogozin cancels trip to Iran

MNA – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitryi Olegovich Rogozin who was set to visit Iran Mon. has canceled his trip due to ‘technical issues', Russian Newspaper Kommersant reported Tuesday.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitryi Olegovich Rogozin was scheduled to visit Tehran on Monday to hold talks on expansion of technology and defense cooperation with Iran’s Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, and Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan.

Based on set schedules, Rogozin was expected to discuss the prospects for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the field of aircraft construction, and the issue on the purchase of Russian aircraft by the Islamic Republic.

According to the Russian newspaper, Rogozin’s flight had been scheudeld for early Monday but was canceled due to what the Russian deputy minister called ‘technical issues’.

Meanwhile, the visits of First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov and Energy Minister Alexander Novak to Tehran in the coming weeks are still on agenda.

Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei announced Sunday that Novak will make a visit to Tehran to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and a number of other Iranian officials. Shuvalov will visit Tehran for evaluating ways to develop trade and economic relations and expand cooperation between Iran and Eurasian Economic Union.
