UN meeting testament to Iran’s commitment to JCPOA

22 Jan 2017 - 10:07

MNA– Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations has said the UN Wednesday meeting was unanimous that Iran had been committed to the JCPOA provisions.

Mr. Gholamali Khoshroo told Iran’s state news agency IRNA after a UN Security Council Briefing on the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 on Wednesday that the general mentality of the meeting was approving for Iran; “the participating countries generally confirmed the fact that Iran had been committed to its obligations under JCPOA; the majority of participants believed the implementation of the deal after a year had been an international achievement in diplomatic efforts, and that it had brought about boom to international trade; they also demanded that all sides remain committed to the deal,” he told IRNA.

“Russian envoy for example, criticized the biased report by the UN and ignoring Iran’s concerns over the deal; Mr. Churkin believed these concerns should be reflected in the future report of the UNSG,” Khoshroo added.

Khoshroo also said that Britain and the US had been disgruntled with the prospects of Syrian success in Aleppo, since their commentary on Iran’s, as they alleged, ‘destructive interventionism in Syria and Yemen’ well belied their true mode of reaction; “their address was quite off topic and was irrelevant as well; it is natural that specific countries have been demoralized, since they see their hegemony unravelling in Syria and that weapons worth of billions of dollars failed to serve their interests in either front,” he concluded.
