Iranian develops Braille touchscreen for visually-impaired

27 Dec 2016 - 10:06

IRNA – A young Iranian inventor has developed a touchscreen for the visually-impaired persons that for the first time uses a continuous style to display characters.

Moslem A'zamfar whose Braille Touchscreen project propsal has won him first rank at the 18th International Kharazmi Festival, said the major difference between what he has invented with those Braille touchscreens developed earlier is that it displays Braille characters in a continuous style.

Previously developed Braille touchscreens provide characters line by line, A'zamfar said.

A continuous display style of the Braille characters makes reading for the visually-impaired easier and faster.

According to the Iranian inventor, the new Braille touchscreen is priced far less compared to its foreign versions.

This is another difference that makes it more affordable for persons with vision problems, A'zamfar said.
