Iran’s ‘Muhammad (PBUH)’ hit Baghdad silver screen

IRNA– Mohammad (PBUH), The Messenger of God, garnered positive reactions from the Iraqi audience in Baghdad on Monday.


The movie which chronicles the childhood of the prophet of Islam, has been opened in Iraq on the threshold of Arbaeen mourning ceremony falling on November 20 this year, marking the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Shia Muslims.

Produced by renowned Oscar-nominated Iranian director Majid Majidi, the 171-minute film took more than seven years to complete.

Majidi is an acclaimed film director, producer and screenwriter whose films have won him many international awards.

His Children of Heaven was the first Iranian film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1999.

Majidi’s other successful film, Color of Paradise, was chosen as one of the best 10 films of the year in the US in 2000.
