LONDON (KUNA) -- Britain said nuclear negotiations between Iran and the world powers failed to achieve a breakthrough for Tehran's nuclear program.
"Lengthy discussions took place on some issues, but a wide gap remains between the parties. Iran's current position falls far short of what is needed to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough," foreign Secretary William Hague said in a statement.

He said Britain and its partners - UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany - went to Almaty, Kazakhstan, to negotiate with the Iranians "in good faith." He urged Iran to rethink its position and to suspend uranium enrichment as well as dismiss all doubts about nature of its nuclear program.

"We look to Iran to consider carefully whether it wants to continue on its current course, and face increasing pressure and isolation from the international community, or to enter into meaningful negotiations," he said.

The P5+1 have reportedly offered Iran to suspend uranium enrichment in return of gradual lift of sanctions.
