9 Nov 2016 - 21:42

November 9, The Iran Project – A senior Iranian commander says Iran’s Armed Forces are ready to confront Daesh (ISIS) terrorist group in its borders, stressing the country’s power in the region and the world.

Attending the unveiling ceremony of the previously grounded helicopters (Hangar Queen) in the city of Kermanshah, Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan emphasized that Armed Forces are fully prepared in all areas.

Following the September 11 attacks, a new security environment created in the world and US has waged many proxy wars, but Iran is ready to confront the US, said Pourdastan.

Pointing to Iran’s redline for enemies, the commander said ISIS which supported by the US and Saudi Arabia, is seeking to close the borders of the Islamic Republic but they must know that Iran will thwart their threats, before they even could close the country’s borders.

Iran has proved its power and authority in the region and world by different military maneuvers and operations, he added.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

Iran has also conducted major military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and state-of-the-art army equipment.

The Islamic Republic has frequently announced that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
