The Iranian government has offered to sell Indonesia cheap crude, according to reports.




The Jakarta Globe cited Indonesia's State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan as saying the Iranian ambassador to Indonesia, Mahmoud Farazandeh, made the offer on Thursday while he accompanied a special envoy from Iran's Energy Ministry.

“They said that they had crude oil that was appropriate for Indonesian oil refineries and that the prices of their crude oil was much cheaper. Does Indonesia want to buy?” the newspaper quoted Dahlan as saying.

According to the report, Dahlan referred the Iranians to state-run oil company Pertamina as they had the authority to respond to the offer.

Dahlan has previously stated that Indonesia would continue to co-operate with Iran despite embargoes from the West against Tehran over its disputed nuclear programme.
