Iran to unveil seven new books at Frankfurt fair

TEHRAN -- Iran plans to unveil seven new works at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world’s largest trade fair for books that will be held from 19 to 23 October.


“From First Plege (sic) to Last Bearth (sic)”, a collection of poems by Saeid Ramezani published by the London-based Iranian-British company Candle and Fog, will be unveiled during the first day of the fair.

The book has been translated into English by Mehdi Afshar and edited by Stephen Cavendish.

Candle and Fog will also display a German translation of “The Legend of the King and the Mathematician” (“Der König und der Mathematiker Eine unendliche Folge von Rätseln”).

“The Legend of the King and the Mathematician”, a play by Mehdi Behzad and Naghmen Samini, has been translated into German by Ursula Visser.

“The Densely Packed Garden”, a selection of contemporary Persian poetry from Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan compiled by Iranian scholar Alireza Ehramian, will be introduced on the second day.

The other book is a German translation of “Glossary of Humanities Terms” compiled by Iranian scholar Manuchehr Amirpur.

Iran also plans to unveil “Reports on Najd” (“Taqareer-i Najd”), a study by Iranian scholars Ali Mowjani and Amir-Reza Aqiqi about the Ottoman statesmen’s reports on rise of Wahhabism in Najd and Hejaz.

Muhammad Saleh Khwaja Tashkandi’s “The Contemporary History of Tashkent” and “Ganjnameh: The Encyclopedia of Islamic Iranian Architecture” published by Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran will also reviewed at Iran’s pavilion.
