Iran, Norway mull over LNG coop.

TEHRAN, Oct. 02 (MNA) – NITC director has voiced Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Norwegian firms over LNG carrier projects.


Speaking at a meeting with Norwegian Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Fisheries Dilek Ayhan, Director of National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Ali Akbar Safaei said implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has paved the way for further cooperation between the two countries; “currently, NITC holds partnership with numerous Norwegian companies in supplying ship parts and equipment as well as insurance areas while these ties will hopefully become deepened.”

Safaei pointed to vast reservoirs of natural gas inside the country asserting “Iran holds comprehensive plans for gas production and exports.”

The official expressed NITC’s readiness to cooperate with the European country in transporting LNG shipments; “bunkering remains as yet another venue for cooperation with Norwegian firms.”

Dilek Ayhan, for her part, voiced Norway’s willingness to bolster relations with NITC in various arenas including ship parts supply, classification and grading as well as maritime transport.

The visiting official pointed to the eagerness of his country’s shipping lines to reinvigorate ties with NITC stressing “in addition to the mentioned areas, we are ready to cooperate with NITC over LNG and LNG carrier projects.”

At the joint meeting, deputy industry minister of Norway was accompanied by several maritime authorities and officials of the European country.
