Iran, Pakistan need to boost defense cooperation: Pak official

September 26, The Iran Project – Head of Pakistan's National Defense University has emphasized on strengthening Iran-Pakistan cooperation, especially in defense areas.

Speaking to a reporter on Monday, Major General Nazir Ahmad Bat said Iran and Pakistan need to cooperate in defense and military areas, adding that mutual defense and military training, joint defense productions, technology exchange and joint military and defense exercises can be part of their cooperation.

Head of Pakistan's National Defense University referred to Iran-Pakistan's similar challenges and threats such as terrorism, saying that strengthening commercial, economic, political, military, and defense cooperation between the two neighboring countries will boost the foundation of bilateral relations and their capabilities in dealing with the challenges and threats.

He went on to say that Pakistan's National Defense University is seeking to increase student exchange with Iran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to the problems Iran left behind to progress, stressing that nothing can stop Iran from achieving its legitimate demands.

Having close and friendly relations, Iran and Pakistan can contribute to regional security and stability and Islamic world unity, he noted.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani met Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday at the United Nations headquarters on the sidelines of 71st UN General Assembly session, highlighted the need for more defense cooperation between the two countries.
