Sahar Nowrouzzadeh appointed as Persian spokesperson for the US Department of State

Iranian American Sahar Nowrouzzadeh has been appointed as Persian spokesperson for the US Department of State, replacing Alan Eyre.

A graduate of George Washington University, Sahar who speaks Persian, English and Spanish, is also on Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff responsible for the Iran desk, and former Director of Iran affairs at National Security Council Staff.

Sahar Nowrouzzadeh is one of the several Iranian American women working at the White House who introduced President Obama’s White House to their Persian/Iranian heritage and traditions such as as Norooz.
