President winds up Latin American tour, heads for New York Summit

Havana, Sept 20, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani wound up his tour to Latin America and left for New York to attend the annual meeting of United Nations General Assembly.

IRNA reporter said that Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, co-chairman of Iran-Venezuela Joint Economic Commission, Minister of Health and Medical Education and Treatment Hassan Hashemi, co-chairman of Iran-Cuba Joint Economic Commission and Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari are accompanying the President.

During his visit to Margarita, Venezuela, President Rouhani handed over presidency of the Non-Aligned movement to President Nicolas Madura.

Meanwhile, President Rouhani visited Havana, Cuba, at the invitation of Cuban President Raul Castro and was accorded formal welcome by the Cuban president.
Rouhani also held talks with Cuban communist leader Fidel Castro.

During President Rouhani's stay in Havana, the Iranian and Cuban officials signed letter of understanding on cooperation on health and research studies on pharmaceutical industry and medical treatment.
