Iran, Armenia stress expansion of ties

Tehran, Sept 19, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in a meeting with his Armenian counterpart Shavaresh Koucharian in Tehran on Sunday voiced his country's readiness to broaden relations with Armenia in energy, transportation and transit fields.


Sarmadi expressed the hope that the prevailing regional differences would be resolved through dialogue soon.

Sarmadi pointed to good relations between Tehran and Yerevan, and said, 'Iran fully prepared to have close cooperation with Armenia in energy, transportation and transit fields.'

He said that establishment of peace and stability in the region is useful and important for all regional countries, and expressed the hope that the existing regional differences could be resolved sooner through dialogue and peaceful means.

The Armenian deputy foreign minister, for his part, voiced his pleasure in Iran's friendly relations, and welcomed expansion of relations with Iran in different areas.
'I hope that we could bring the two countries' mutual cooperation in different areas to an acceptable level,' Koucharian added.
