17 Sep 2016 - 16:59

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Army Ground Force on Saturday unveiled its latest achievements in manufacturing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

In a ceremony in Tehran held to publicize the new achievements, Commander of Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan described drones as his forces’ sharp eyes and far-reaching arms.

He said the pilotless aircraft of the Ground Forces have successfully carried out all missions in war games and exercises so far.

The top commander also highlighted the usefulness of drones in controlling the borders, which he described as the Army’s main responsibility.

Iran has now a broad range of UAVs which can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

Back in August, the Army Ground Force unveiled a homegrown drone used for jamming and deception operations. In December 2014, the Ground Force for the first time utilized a type of suicide drone in a large-scale military exercise.
