17 Sep 2016 - 13:40

September 17, The Iran Project – Iran’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Alireza Jahangiri has met Dutch central bank governor Klaas Knot, negotiating over innovative ways to resolve the problem of banking and monetary transfers between the two countries.

Iran and Netherlands’ business and economic communities are now willing to cooperate, but some banking problems prevent the two countries from using all economic capacities. Jahangiri added.

Referring to the visits of Iran and Netherlands foreign ministers to each other's capitals, Iran’s envoy noted that the two countries have taken considerable measures to solve the problem.

He went on to say that banking relations can be considered as a prerequisite for the growth of economic ties.

During the meeting, it was decided to discuss new innovative solutions for resolving the problem of banking and money transfers in an upcoming meeting between the officials of Dutch banks and Iran Central Bank on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund Summit.

Earlier, Deputy Head of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce for International Affairs Farhad Sharif visited President of the Federation of Netherlands Employers, negotiating on the development of Iran-Netherlands’ banking ties as a key step to expand the two countries’ relations.

Also, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who visited the Netherlands in late June called for the facilitation of banking ties between the two countries, saying facilitation of banking affairs for Iranian businessmen can help accelerate development of trade ties between the two countries.
