Yemen’s army and Popular Committees have killed three Saudi and one Emirati soldiers in several attacks in retaliation for the military aggression by Saudi Arabia against their country.

Yemen’s al-Masirah website said Yemeni army snipers killed two officers from the Saudi army in the southwestern region of Asir on Monday.

The officers were identified as First Lieutenant Mohammed al-Bhijan and Sergeant Ali al-Asiri.

Saudi authorities had earlier said a soldier named Waze’ al-Dilafe’ had also been killed in al-the Rabou’a area of Asir on Sunday. No more details were provided on his death.

The Yemeni army also destroyed a Saudi military vehicle near the al-Fawaz military base in the region of Najran in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

The United Arab Emirates also said one of its soldiers had been killed in clashes with the Yemeni army, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) quoted the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces as saying on Monday.

On Sunday, the Yemeni army and Popular Committees managed to take control of several positions held by Saudi-backed mercenaries on the outskirts of the border region of Midi in Yemen, leaving more than 40 militants dead and a number of others injured, according to al-Masirah.

A military source said the Yemeni forces destroyed the militant’s armored vehicles and inflicted heavy losses on them, adding that a number of mercenaries were forced to flee while others were captured.

Saudi Arabia has been incessantly pounding Yemen since March 2015, with the UN putting the death toll from the military aggression at about 10,000. The offensive was launched in an attempt to reinstate Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a Saudi ally who has resigned as Yemen’s president.
