28 Aug 2016 - 14:02

August 28, The Iran Project - French Minister of Environment, Energy and Sea Affairs Segolene Royal invited Iran to become a member of various global environmental coalitions.

In a meeting with Vice President and Head of Iran's Department of the Environment, Massoumeh Ebtekar, Royal said Iran enjoys amazing environmental heritage so we invited the country to become a member of various global environmental coalitions.

French Minister of Environment noted that all aspects of Iran's environment are at high level, adding the country has many natural resources recorded in UNESCO.

Iran and France cooperated in the field of biodiversity, especially the National Museum of Natural History, she said, expressing hope that the two countries further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Massoumeh Ebtekar also said that Royal’s two-day visit to Iran shows that French government tends to cooperate with the Islamic Republic in the environment sector.

She went on to say that we held talks on different subjects, including the implementation of the Paris Agreement on the issues like as energy efficiency, water resource management and the dust issues, and multilateral and bilateral cooperation in the environment sector.

French Environment Minister Segolene Royal met with her Iranian counterpart in Tehran Sunday to announce plans for a number of joint projects addressing energy, water shortages and pollution.

On Monday, she is due to visit Iran's largest saltwater lake, Orumiyeh in northwestern Iran, a UNESCO heritage site.
