Parliament's top advisor: Kuwaiti officials' views on regional crises important to Iran

20 Aug 2016 - 15:29

TEHRAN (FNA)- Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian underlined that his country attaches much importance to the views and solutions proposed by the Kuwaiti officials to settle the regional problems.

"Tehran pays attention to the views of the Kuwaiti Emir and parliament speaker to help the political settlement of the regional crises," said Amir Abdollahian, also former deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, on Saturday.

Stressing that expansion of relations with neighbors is the first priority of Iran's foreign policy, he said, "In my last meeting with Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Ahmad Jaber al-Sabah, he raised constructive views on the regional issues but Riyadh's aggression against Yemen prevented further progress."

In July 2015, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Kuwaiti Emir in a meeting in Kuwait City discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.

During the meeting in the Kuwaiti capital, the Iranian foreign minister and the Kuwaiti emir explored avenues for reinvigorating and bolstering mutual cooperation.

Zarif and Sheikh Sabah also discussed the latest regional developments.

The Iranian foreign minister also met with his Kuwaiti counterpart during his stay in Kuwait.
