Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed outside efforts to resolve the Syrian conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Lavrov spoke with Zarif by phone in a follow-up to Monday’s Russian-Iranian-Azerbaijani summit in Baku.

"Topical issues on the bilateral and regional agenda, including the issue of external support for Syrian settlement, were discussed," the ministry said in a statement.
