According to the office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization in Hormozgan Province, 11 tourism projects in the province will become operational by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2017).
One of the major schemes is the 6-billion-rial ($172,000) Azini Wetland Resort, which will be completed by the yearend. Provincial and national budgets have been used to build the site.
“The resort will include gazebos, markets and praying rooms,” Mohsen Ziaei, the head of Hormozgan’s ICHHTO, said.

Azini is a Ramsar site and listed under the Deltas of Rud-e-Gaz and Rude-e-Hara on the international convention’s list of wetlands of international importance.
The Convention on Wetlands, called the Ramsar Convention, is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.

Over 80,000 tourists visited the wetland during the Iranian New Year holiday (March 20–April 1).

Another main project is the tourist complex in Geno Biosphere Reserve that has seen an 80% progress so far and is expected to come into operation by March 2017.

Geno is a region with unique mountainous terrain boasting rich ecology, which helps it attract over 10,000 visitors each year.

Nine other schemes, including traditional restaurants and recreational centers, are scheduled for completion this year, which will help create jobs for more than 120 individuals once they become operational.

Hormozgan is a province in the south of Iran boasting the shores of both the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea. With 14 islands in the Persian Gulf and 1,000 km of coastline, Hormozgan is the fourth most visited province in the country, mainly thanks to the popular islands of Qeshm and Kish, and the presence of mangrove forests.
