JCPOA joint commission meeting kicks off in Vienna

Vienna, July 19, IRNA – The 4th JCPOA joint commission meeting kicked off in Cobourg Hotel in Vienna on Tuesday noon.

Iranian delegation are Chief negotiator Abbas Araqchi, Iran's permanent representative to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and American Affairs Majid Takht-e Ravanchi, Director General for political and international security affairs of Foreign Ministry Hamid Baeedinejad, Davoud Mohammadnia, Behzad Saberi as well as several experts from Foreign Ministry.

Deputy foreign policy chief of European Union Helga Schmidt and representatives from Group 5+1 country are participating in the meeting.

The Commission is an appropriate opportunity to discuss and consider bilateral and multilateral obstacles on the way of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Araqchi told reporters.

He said there were two joint commission meetings before implementation of JCPOA and this is the second meeting after implementation.

Araqchi said that Iran would raise the concern about banking re-connection.

Some technical issues and problems may emerge concerning our commitment or misunderstanding and misinterpretation on implementation of technical dimension of JCPOA may emerge between us and the agency or IAEA and G 5+1, so they will be discussed here.

Araqchi added that bilateral meetings will be held after joint commission meeting with French, American and German delegations, although the German side is departing for Tehran on Wednesday.

According to the agreement on the first joint commission meeting between Iran and Group 5+1 on October 16, 2015, the commission meeting is due be held every three-month in Vienna.
