Annual meeting of anti-Iran MKO terrorists held in Paris

17 Jul 2016 - 10:59

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The anti-Iran terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization’s (MKO) annual meeting was held in the French capital, Paris, with Saudi Arabia’s former spy chief in attendance, showing Riyadh's continued and direct support for terrorist groups against the Islamic Republic.

The Saturday event was attended by a number of Arab figures, including former Algerian prime minister Sid Ahmad Ghozali, former Jordanian information minister Salah Gualleb, former Egyptian foreign minister Mohammad Orabi and Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of the Palestinian Fatah movement.

In an address to the summit, Prince Turki al-Faisal made hostile remarks against Tehran and vowed to stand by the MKO in what he described as the terrorist outfit’s efforts against the Iranian establishment.

Faisal, who currently chairs the Board of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, further lauded the anti-Iran gathering, the participants of which, he claimed, hope to “free Iran of oppression.”

Also at the meeting, Faisal paid special tribute to the notorious terror group’s current head Mariam Rajavi and her husband Massoud Rajavi, the MKO’s former ringleader.

During the nearly 30-minute speech at the gathering, the Saudi prince referred to Maryam Rajavi, who was in the audience, as “Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and your late husband Massoud Rajavi.”

Massoud Rajavi has made no public appearance since 2003 and his potential death has never been confirmed by the terrorist group.

Among foreign supporters of the terrorist group were former French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner, former Spanish prime minister Joze Luis Zapatero, former US Congress speaker Newt Gingrich, former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks against Iranian civilians and government officials over the past three decades. Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks since the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, about 12,000 have fallen victim to MKO’s acts of terror.

Washington and the European Union have removed the MKO from their lists of terrorist organizations.

The anti-Iran terrorists enjoy freedom of activity in the US and Europe, and even hold meetings with American and EU officials.

Faisal’s comments come as Saudi Arabia is widely known as a supporter of Takfiri terror groups currently operating in Syria and Iraq.

The regime has also been involved in a deadly military campaign against neighboring Yemen. The offensive has led nearly 10,000 civilians dead in the impoverished country.
