Revoking Qassim's citizenship to create rift between Bahraini nation, govt.

TEHRAN, Jul. 04 (MNA) – Iran’s former ambassador to Bahrain condemned Bahraini regime’s move to revoke citizenship of the country’s most senior Shia cleric, Sheikh Isa Qassim.

Iran’s former Deputy FM for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Bahrain’s decision to revoke citizenship of Sheikh Qassim is a part of Bahraini rulers’ reliance on aliens and their secret relations with Israel, a move which will certainly damage Al Khalifa’s image.

Pointing to his meeting with Sheikh Qassim during his tenure in Bahrain, Amir-Abdollahian said he clearly is an intellectual and prominent cleric, a brave fighter and the one who strongly believes in the democratic solution.

“Enjoying a proper understanding of the regional situation, Sheikh Qassim prevented young people resorting to violence through explaining the facts of society and adopting clear positions,” Zarif's advisor asserted.

Amir-Abdollahian reiterated that the move against one of the noblest citizens of Bahrain will create a rift between the people and the government of Bahrain.

He added that Bahrain's government must know that the only solution for the country’s issues is political and the inefficient methods will never help solve the real crisis between the people and the government of Bahrain.

“Al Khalifa must rely on his own people,” he noted.
