12 May 2016 - 15:18

Tehran, May 12, The Iran Project – Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization urged all Iranians, in a telegram message, to inform the organization if they have any information about the country’s stolen artifacts.

In a telegram message on Thursday, Masoud Soltanifar, head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization asked Iranians around the world to inform the organization if they have any information about the historical objects that have been smuggled out of the country.

Over the past two and a half years, taking necessary political and legal follow-up measures, we could return home four shipments of valuable historical and cultural objects to the country, Soltanifar said.

He stressed that the government’s serious measures to restore cultural heritage into the country indicate that no one can illegally transfer historical and cultural properties out of the country.

A few days ago, a large haul of Iran’s stolen artifacts, comprising 73 pieces of antiquity belonging to the Sassanid era were returned home from US.

These highly valuable pieces of antiquity were the fourth historic shipments that have been returned to the country over the past few years.
