President Rouhani is given 21-gun salute in Islamabad

Islamabad, March 25, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Islamabad, capital of Pakistan, hours ago and was welcomed by Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the airport.

As a sign of deep respect for Iranian president, the Pakistani hosts performed a 21-gun salute in honor of him.

During the 2-day visit, bilateral talks and consultations will be held by senior officials of both countries.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Ne'matzadeh, Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian, Interior Minister Abdulreza Rahmani Fazli, Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, Governor of Central Bank Valiollah Seif and Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mohsen Jalalpour are accompanying President Rouhani in this visit.

Also, Chief of the Presidential Office Staff Mohammad Nahavandian, President Special Aide Hossein Fereydoun, Cultural Advisor to President Hessamoddin Ashna and Governor General of Sistan-Baluchestan Province Ali Osat Hashemi are accompanying the president.

A 60-strong trade delegation also arrived in Islamabad hours before President Rouhani to study grounds for economic cooperation with Pakistan.

A number of cooperation documents are to be signed in the fields of electricity, insurance, commerce, commercial strategic programs, media, academic, medical and health affairs as well as tourism by related ministers in the presence of heads of both states.
