Cultural measures, key to fight against ISIS: Velayati

Tehran, March 1, The Iran Project – Iran will launch whatever military measures needed to confront ISIS, Ali Akbar Velayati stated, stressing that the key to stand against the anti-cultural moves is to take cultural measures.


Ali-Akbar Velayati, the Supreme Leader’s advisor for International Affairs made the remarks during his speech in the Congress on “Islamic Republic of Iran, Opportunities and Cultural Challenges of Extremism” on Tuesday in Tehran. He underlined the necessity of cultural fight against the anti-cultural acts of extremism, saying that in order to confront ISIS, Iran will launch all needed military actions.

Noting the cultural nature of the Islamic revolution and the cultural characters of both the late founder of the nation, Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei, Velayati told that unlike the other revolutions across the world, the Islamic Revolutions message is cultural, as well.

The Supreme Leader’s advisor also went on to say that this was along with the anti-cultural goals that the Western powers have formed and backed the terrorist groups to invade the key historical centers of Islamic civilization such as Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Egypt and Afghanistan.

Highlighting the extremist measures of terrorist front which attempted to portray an improper image of Islam, he reiterated that in such condition the Supreme Leader’s letter to Western Youth was meant to immediately declare that this is not the true face of Islam.

Elsewhere in his speech, he referred to the US hidden intentions of the ceasefire in Syria, emphasizing that the decision aims to replace the Assad’s government in Syria.
