Putin, Renzi discuss Moscow-Rome cooperation, Iran-Saudi Arabia tensions

Vladimir Putin held a phone talk with Italian PM Matteo Renzi, discussing different issues ranging from the current Iran-Saudi Arabia tensions to copperation between Russia and Italy.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone talk with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, discussing current tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, as well as steps to coordinate the fight against international terrorism, the Kremlin press service said Friday.

"During an exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda, the main focus was on Syrian conflict settlement, as well as the situation unfolding between Iran and Saudi Arabia. In this context, the importance of closely coordinating efforts in the fight against international terrorism was noted," the press service said in a statement.

Moreover, Vladimir Putin and Matteo Renzi noted the importance of continuing cooperation on mutually beneficial energy projects.

"A number of issues regarding Russian-Italian cooperation was constructively, thoroughly discussed. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing cooperation to implement mutually beneficial energy projects," the press service said in a statement.
