22 Dec 2015 - 15:00

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec plans to visit Iran to reopen the European country’s embassy in Iran.

Late September, Erjavec in his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif said that his country plans to reopen its embassy in Iran.

He had said that his country is interested in joining Iran’s market and make investment in the country.

Iranian Deputy FM Majid Takht Ravanchi in his recent meeting to Slovenia underlined expansion of bilateral relations with Slovenia including parliamentary ties.

Majid Takht Ravanchi made the remarks in a meeting with Chairman of Slovenian Parliament's Foreign Policy Commission Jozef Horvat and members of Iran’s friendship group in the parliament in Ljubljana on Saturday.

“Expanding ties with Slovenia is noteworthy for Iran and the country tends to expand relations in fields of politics, parliament, economy, culture, science as well as nanotechnology and biotechnology”, Takht Ravanchi said during the meeting.

The Iranian official expressed his contentment over the establishment of Iran’s friendship group in Slovenian Parliament, the trips and meeting held between the heads of the two countries parliaments and stressed boosting parliamentary ties.

“Today terrorism, extremism and turmoil are threatening the world. Though the terrorist groups are fomenting unrest in Syria and Iraq, but the whole world is now suffering from its negative impacts in forms of terrorist attacks and the refugee crisis in the European countries”, the foreign minister added.

“Accordingly it is indeed a global crisis which requires a global collective confrontation which itself needs serious determination to uproot violence and extremism”, he underlined.

Jozef Horvat, for his part, said that the establishment of Iran’s friendship group in Slovenia is a sign of the Slovenian Parliament’s interest in expanding parliamentary cooperation with Iran.

Talking about the meeting held between the head of the two countries parliaments in New York, he added that Slovenia pays heed to boost ties with Iran.
