Iranian drones to safeguard safety of Arbaeen pilgrims

Tehran, Nov. 28, IRNA - Commander of Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said the drones and aerial surveillance would safeguard the security for Arbaeen pilgrims.

Pourdastan made the remarks while visiting Mehran border point in northwestern Iran.

He reiterated that all movements will be observed and detected beyond the Iranian borders by forces of Army.

'Iran is closely monitoring activities of terrorists and is going to nip their plots in bud', he added.

The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.

It marks the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS).

Until late Friday, about one and a half million of Iranian pilgrims entered Iraq through three border points Friday.

The Iranian pilgrims travelled to Iraq for Arbaeen Day through three border points including Mehran, Shalamcheh and Chazzabeh in southwestern Iran.
