Iran seeks becoming enriched-uranium sales country

15 Nov 2015 - 15:07

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said that the country would receive 139 tons of natural uranium in return for the 8-9 tons of its enriched uranium, and the country would keep the depleted uranium as well.

Iran plans to dilute 8-9 tons of enriched uranium by 4 percent and based on the agreement (JCPOA) “We have to decide about it at the time of implementing the JCPOA,” he said.

The enriched uranium should be either sold abroad or be diluted, he said, adding dilution means combination of depleted and diluted uranium to be turned into enriched uranium.

He said that Iran has decided to sell the uranium. Russia, the US, the EU and China are selling enriched uranium and Iran plans to join the field.

Salehi continued that Iran plans to receive 139 tons of natural uranium in return for 8-9 tons of enriched uranium and would keep the depleted uranium as well.
