Iran's footage of underground missile base in Media spotlight

16 Nov 2015 - 13:30

Tehran, October 19, The Iran Project – The international media has extensively covered the news related to the IRGC's unveiling an underground missile base. The news has also widely drawn the Israeli and US media's attention.

Reporting the news, Associated Press quoted the head of IRGC aerospace branch as saying that the facility is just the "tip of iceberg" of Iran's military capabilities.

Referring the IRGC senior official remarks, the Jerusalem Post has noted that the unveiled missiles represent the next generation of Iran long-range missile technology. It then highlighted the fact that the new Iranian missile, Emad, is capable to strike Iran's regional enemy Israel, further reflecting the US State Department response to Emad missile test.

The IRGC senior official remarks that a new advanced generation of long-range missile would replace the current weapons next year is highlighted in the Guardian's report. It then argued that Iran's show of strength is a response to the US officials remarks that the military option has still remained on the table.

The Sky News stressed the IRGC senior official's announcement that almost all Iran's cities and towns have at least one missile base. Russia Today has considered the footage as a warning to anyone who might threat Iran.

Moreover, the National website quoted the IRGC senior official as saying that Iran would not start any war but “if enemies make a mistake, missile bases will erupt like a volcano from the depth of earth”. The fact that Iran's nuclear deal will not affect the country's missile program is what largely attracted this media attention. The National further wrote that the White House insisted that Iran's missile launch would have no impact on the nuclear agreement.

In short, the fact that Iran's unprecedented missile launch is just a sample of its massive missile bases has been in the center of world media attention.
