Iran’s pistachio exports triple

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran exported 25.200 tons of pistachio over the first six months of Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2016) to 52 countries, worth $208 million.

The amount rose by 315 percent and 310 percent respectively in terms of weight and value comparing to similar period last year.

Iran's pistachio export has tripled this year.

Iran’s Customs Organization tally showed that the country’s pistachio production rose by 300 percent during the first six months last year.

Last year, Iran produced 248.000 tons of pistachio and exported 182.000 tons of the product worth $1.6 billion to 170 countries in the world.

Iran stood second following America due to droughts, but since early 2015 it managed to stand first and is now followed by the US and Turkey.

Iran sold pistachio to Belarus, Yugoslavia, Pakistan, China, Japan, Azerbaijan, Albania, Germany, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Spain, Australia, Slovakia, Afghanistan, Algeria, the UAE, Ukraine, Italy, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tajikistan, Taiwan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tunisia, Sweden, Switzerland, Chile, Serbia, Iraq, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Qatar and Canada.
