Gov't requires intelligence Ministry to review the reasons of Mina crush: Official

5 Oct 2015 - 15:44

Tehran, October 5, The Iran Project - Iranian Intelligence Minister has said the government required the Ministry of intelligence to collect the documentation of Mina incident and determine whether it was intentional or unintentional.

The government required the Ministry of intelligence to investigate whether the Mina incident was intentional or accidental, said Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi at the funeral ceremony for the victims of Mina Tragedy.

Stressing on the international dimension of Mina tragedy and the huge responsibility of Iran and other Islamic countries to investigate the issue, Alavi announced that the Ministry of intelligence has started reviewing the reasons of the incident following the government’s order.

Intelligence minister stated that vice president for legal affairs is also responsible to pursue the case legally.

He went on to say that Saudi's irrationality turned Mina incident into crime, adding if at the moment of the accident Saudi Arabia had expressed sympathy and had taken up a moral approach, it would certainly affect other nations, but Saudi government followed an irrational method which turned the tragedy into a disaster.

Iran’s Supreme Leader’s strong position towards Mina incident was a turning point that prompted the Saudis to offer their condolences to the people of Iran, he added.
