29 Sep 2015 - 14:41

Tehran, Sept 29, IRNA – Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani referred to Iran as an important neighbor and said improvement of relations with Iran will benefit the whole region.

Addressing the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, he said it is time for holding targeted dialogue among regional countries without relying on a go-between.

He said some of the differences between Iran and the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council member states could well be setteled.

The Emir also voiced the readiness of his country to host talks to settle these problems.

He said such talks could be established on the principle of lack of interference in internal affairs of countries.

Sheikh Tamim also stressed the steady improving relations between Tehran and Doha based on common interests and good neighborly relations.

Commenting on the nuclear agreement between Iran and the 5+1, he said it is a big and important step forward.

He said Qatar hoped the nuclear deal will promote security and stability in the region.

He also called for cleaning the region from nuclear arms and mass killing weapons while stressing the right of the regional countries to peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The Qatari Emir further called for an end to occupation of Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime for the reason that there is no serious intention visible on the part of the Zionist regime to work for peace.

He also condemned the international silence over the repeated crimes committed by extremist Zionists against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Beit-ul-Moqaddas.
